John
Woolliams is a retired solicitor with a lifelong love of art and
particularly marine painting. He has been a keen amateur
photographer for over 40 years, having obtained the Associateship of
the Royal Photographic Society many years ago.
He is
now painting in watercolours, which he feels are particularly suited
to portraying the subtle and exciting effects of light often found
in the coastal scenes he now paints.
He
has been a member of the Maritime Art Group since its foundation,
and has a very wide interest in marine subjects, from historic ships
and the wide ocean through the declining days of commercial sail to
the coastline, harbours and craft, sailing and otherwise, found
today. |
